Arnold's Bowling Supply was born in 1964, when at the age of 21, Fred Arnold purchased the small pro shop where he had been employed since high school. His dedication to league play and the science of ball drilling gained Fred the respect and friendshsip of bowlers all over southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.
Even though space was limited in the storefront Arnold's shared with two other businesses, Fred soon made room to display a Brunswick pool table and a few accessories. New homebuyers were focusing on family rooms and what better way to entertain the family than with a pool table from the newly renamed Arnold's Bowling and Billiard Supply.
In 1968, the business moved one block down the street to its present location where a true showroom atmosphere could be created featuring pool tables, card tables, shuffleboard and all the necessary accessories. Each year, Fred invited professional players to headline billiard exhibitions in-store and at the South Texas State Fair. Local fans were treated to the billiard prowess of Jimmy Caras, Willie Elder, Willie Mosconi, Utley Puckett and Steve Mizerak.
When Fred retired from league play, bowling equipment gave way to bar stools, embroidered wearables and advertising specialties. The old machines that had embroidered thousands of bowling shirts were now replaced with computerized embroidery equipment turning out corporate and school logos on caps, jackets and shirts alongside imprinted coffee mugs, pens, calendars, mouse pads, and a multitude of other advertising items.
Now in our 48th year, we are happy to showcase quality tables by Olhausen, Connelly, and Presidential Billiards, Champion Shuffleboard, Butterfly Table Tennis. In short: We sell FUN!
